Love ours...does everything we want it to do and more, but I do agree on the windshield seam. I have to sit on a pillow to see over the seam.
Other than that.....its a great machine.

I never listen!
I never listen to others and it payed off. While they all said buy a Ranger or Trex. I researched the Maximo 500 because of value and factory accessories. Now I have a few of those friends and family looking at Maximo UTV's. Does everything I wanted and then some. In low gear it will go anywhere. Use it for weekend riding, hunting, and working around camp.

Trail riding
I am very impressed with my 500. I took it out to the woods for the first time yesterday and let me tell you it impressed everyone that was there. Believe me I put it though a test & it passed. Also it has a very smooth ride. Only had to use 4x4 once. I put 50 miles on it and it was all on trails. My son has a utv of a different brand name, & he along with his friends were very impressed with the way it looks, handles & performance. I am very satisfied. Thanks Massimo for a affordable & great performance machine.

Awesome machine!!
I purchased the MSU 500 a couple of weeks ago and wasn't able to test it out until last weekend. This thing is a tank! 41 miles later and constantly going through mud 2 ft deep it was unstoppable! I definitely made the right choice in choosing Massimo!

Well.....common sense lacks but good machine
First things first, things that are VERY aggravating. Even though everybody and everyone is complaining that the windshield seem is right at eye level, it appears nobody at Massimo is listening and they still keep using it. As if it's really hard to figure this out, without all the complaints. Just look at the other manufacturers windshield and the seem is very low. Nobody wants a 2 inch seem blocking their vision!!! Hello? Are you listening? Some professional reviewers have actually suggested taking the windshield and throwing it in the trash and getting a one piece rhino.

Even when you fold the windshield down, guess what you looking at? The fold at eye level, it's just simply absurd. Absurd, because it's such an easy fix, lower the seem!

Next, the handle welded inside the passenger compartment on the roll bar so somebody can hold onto it, is right smack in the way of the windshield bracket. So you can once again guess, another one of those things that nobody is paying attention too or care about. Obviously, that clamp is made to go tight and it cannot because of the handle.

Next, their tech-support system is very bizarre. If you're not a dealer, you cannot actually talk to their internal tech-support. They refer you to an outside company, the motorcycle doctor. What's the problem with this? Its just one individual that handles nationwide customer service. Let me repeat, one guy, handling every single call from the United States of America for people, consumers and customers, who are having problems with their unit. Saying that they are a bit understaffed in that area is an understatement of a lifetime!

Unfortunately, he doesn't do warranty work. He answers your questions, but says he doesn't do warranty work, he's not going to send you the parts under warranty that you need to fix it under warranty. In order to do this, you must talk with their internal support department, but guess what? They won't let you talk to them.

What this all boils down to is this. If you have a problem with the unit, even cosmetic, you have to bring it somewhere and let it sit there for a couple weeks until an authorized service center fixes it. One of the issues I am having, is the driver side plastic seat bottom is cracked already. In short, I need a new seat or a new seat plastic bottom. On a unit that's not even a month old.

This could easily be solved by Massimo by simply sending me out a new one with proof of purchase showing that it's brand-new and I would even be willing to send them a pic. But It appears, there is no such individual to send this pic to, because I am not a dealer.

For starters, it would save them money by not having to pay a service center to perform this work when the consumer can actually perform it.

Second, a top-notch customer service department would just send one out and have it be over with.

Well not Massimo. As I said, they have a bizzare system. It appears they only have one guy in technical support internally. Why a company this big does not want to pay to have a bigger technical support and warranty Dept can only be one reason and one reason only. To save a few pennies. Even though in the long run, they are paying many more pennies, by having service centers perform repairs that could be performed by actual customer. Dumb, dumb dumb.

Which means? They're not interested in true customer satisfaction. So that's fine. I'll wait till it needs some other warranty work and then they can pay the service center to do something that I could easily do myself.

Meanwhile, I must live with a broken seat because I can't afford to go the two to three weeks without my unit.

The machine itself is a great machine and I'm very impressed with it, even though the 500 lacks some needed power, it is ample enough for almost most tasks. Great machine when it actually runs.

I did have a starting problem with only five hours on it, and after many calls to tech-support (tech-support does not return phone calls, so don't even bother leaving a voice message, just keep calling until the phone rings off the hook and you actually get someone) the issue remained unfixed.

For some reason, intermittently, out of nowhere, it would spit and sputter and conk and when it did, it would not restart and you could turn the engine over for a solid hour. It left me stranded many times back in the mountains where I had to walk out onto my truck frustrated.

I finally figured it out on my own. The wire and connector going to the injector was loose and when I wiggled it, it fired right up and ran perfectly. This wire is loose, of course it causes the injector to go crazy.

Sometimes not working and not starting and sometimes working wrong which led to the sputtering.

In short, all the time wasted trying to get through the tech support was useless, as the problem was not solved until I fixed it.

Still, with all these issues, it's not a bad machine. And handles mud and rough terrain wonderfully. As I say, when it runs, it's a very very impressive machine for the money. But in retrospect, I should have got the 700 and I highly recommend the 700 to anybody who's going to buy one.

Ranch Work with MSU 500
My father and I have had ours for about a year now. Bought from tractor supply. This thing works. I was worried about it being under powered. Well if you need to pull something just hit the gas and it goes. Its been tough and ready when we need it. We haul tools, put up deer stands, ride for fun and check on livestock with it. Its great. Best for the price.

Have not put very many miles on yet, but am happy with unit. had a tear in the seat and they took care of it. A little noisy, but they all are. Need to redesign windshield as the divider hinge hits you in eye level. Good value in comparison to other brands. So far am happy.

Finally got my Massimo!!
Bought my Massimo at my local TSC store. Good service, and what a blast to own / drive this machine. Mainly used for getting around at our weekend hideaway, but I also put a Blade on it for pushing snow. After our first snow (6"), I am impressed. Effortless pushing the snow around in 4WD mode. I love this machine! only problem I had was losing the roof on the road, and My TSC manager and Massimo worked it out and got me a replacement.

MSU 500, 9 months
Purchased my MSU 500 from tractor supply 9 months ago. Have had no problems with the UTV. The only problem is with availability of replacement parts. It would be nice if owners could order parts online from MASSIMO. Went to repair center listed on your website, looked more like a junk yard and they had nothing good to say about MASSIMO. Having said that if I were to purchase a UTV now would spend a little extra and get a Honda.

I just received my Massimo Msu 500 2 days ago. After the 25 hr breakin I will re-review. Leading up to getting my 500 I was impressed with its looks and the positive reviews. The store manager at my local Tractor and Supply here in Payson, Az, was absolutely the best, he helped me throught the process of ordering one of the color I wanted. He called me and keep me fully informed as to how the process was coming along. I haven't had such good customer service from a business in a very long time. Kudos to the manager and his staff. So far I have managed to put on 3.8 hrs as directed for the break in. A long way to go, but so far I am ticled pink to own a Massimo.

1 yr Update
I bought a 500 for my dad to use on his ranch in February last year. We patiently waited for the break in period to be done before letting loose with it. What can I say about this beast other than Awesome. He uses it on a daily basis, in fact my mom complains that he's hardly at home now. He hauls things in the bed and in his trailer that he built for it. He rides out to the range to check on his cattle. And after this winter he figured a new use, pulling stuck vehicles out of the mud. With the gear in 4 low and locked, there is no stopping this beast. The winch is very effective.
The upgrades we did were adding wheel spacers for a wider stance/stability, LED light bars, and trail bags and gun racks.
Overall we are VERY satisfied, definite 10/10.

We like it
We bought a 500 over the weekend from TSC.

It's our first UTV and will be primarily for use on a small (but very hilly) farm.

Hard to beat what you get for the price.

Our only complaint - the windshield is nearly useless. The seam is right at eye level. We ended up removing it and I will probably source a piece of lexan locally to make a one piece replacement, reusing the clamps and trim from the folding windshield.

Power is adequate for our needs and the ride is comfortable. Dump bed is very useful for us.

So far, we're very happy with the purchase.

thumbs up
I read many reviews one saying they need a 700 caus e the 500 didn't have the power to go mudding and climbing steep hills.and one saying it is no polaris.most people like it.and let me tell you why.it may not be a polaris but in my opinion it's as good as one.it has a little less HP 5 less than a ranger 400 and 8 less than the cheaper ranger 500.but on steep hills put it in low gear it will climb anything and I have.it goes through sippy holes that 4x4 built trucks would have some trouble.I have put it through hell in the short time I have owned it and I am very very please.and I saved about 3000.00 bucks over the polaris.so will it hold up like a polaris only time will tell.I will put another review after the summer and let you know.

Great UTV
Just purchased from TSC in Danville, VA. Look great and so many extras are included. Not sure who assembled the unit, but verify all bolts are tight.. have found several loose on the roll bar, fenders, doors. Compared to the Rhino, almost identical, but with saving several $$$. My buddy with a Rhino is thinking about UPGRADING to a MASSIMO.. Time will tell as I have only owned it a week. Part support looks to be easy as TSC stated they can order anything I would need. Plan to keep this for a long time.

Nice Vehicle
I have had my MSU-500 for about two months, and have been waiting to review after I have had it for a while. Overall, I am VERY happy with it. My purpose for it is light duty taking care of horses as our Golf Cart with a Carryall dump bed was going to need the engine rebuilt for the third time in 2 years.

The MSU-500 is capable of holding a few bales of hay, has harrowed a pasture and dragged logs with the winch. No issues there.

There are some things that could have been better designed. Like a lot of other reviews, the windshield folds at a very bad spot, right in your line of site. I figure either a midget or someone very tall was in charge of this design. I knew this was an issue before buying but they really need to fix this for future models. It is really bad when driving in the dark and makes it hard to avoid squashing toads hanging out in your way.

Glove box, will not stayed closed. Any little bump and it flies open.

Steering wheel was not installed correctly. By this I mean, when going straight the part that should have been pointing to the 6:00 position was point to 3:00. easy to fix but I shouldn't have had to do this. Don't know who is at fault, Tractor Supply or Massimo.

Not thrilled with side view mirrors. They are knocked out of allignment with the slightest touch. Gave up trying to keep passenger side adjusted.

The rubber straps that act as a spring to pull the doors shut need to be revisited. Both on the driver's side broke within a month and one on the passenger side has broken soon to be followed by the 2nd one on the passenger side.

As delivered, parking break could not hold unit on even a slight hill and had to be adjusted by me.

I borrowed a Tractor Supply deliver to get the vehicle home. When the TS manager loaded it I questioned him about strapping it down. He said it wasn't necessary. "Hmmmmmm, OK" More than 1/2 way home it started rolling all over the place. It hit the bake gate of the trailer hard enough to seriously bend the latches securing the gate of the trailer making it an ordeal to open and close the gate. The reflectors on the back of the MSU-500 were busted when it hit the gate. Tractor Supply gave me new reflectors. While this IS NOT a issue with the unit itself I am sharing so that others will insist that they properly tie the unit down. I should have insisted.

Overall I am happy with what I got for the price I paid.

Awesome Machine!
Recently bought a 500 for my dad to use on his farm. From day one he was smitten with it. The break in period was very taxing as he wanted to let loose with it. After the break in though? WOW! He goes everywhere with it. Checking on his cattle herd. Checking on the flock of sheep. Hauling stuff around with a trailer he built for it. Rain or shine he is out on the range. I've used it from him for some romping runs. Four wheel is pretty decent but when the lock is engaged in Low drive, nothing will stop this beast. Only regret is that i didnt opt for the 700 :)
Options we installed were wheel spacers for wider stance/stability, LED light bar for added illumination, and gun rack and storage bags for the trail.
I will give this machine a definite 10/10

Super Machine !
Bought this unit last month. I reviewed just about every machine out there and their prices . This Massimo tops them all. Great features, very comfortable, Great looking, fun to play in and a rugged workhorse ! Don't ride on your lawn unless you want it ripped to bits with these awesome 26" Wanda tires. The tread on the tires are brutally good. The rims are smoking hot beauties. This UTV has fun things like blinker lights, hazard lights that beep when turned on, and a horn. Great head lights w/ high beams you can see way ahead of you. Bucket seats w/ seatbelts you can nestle right into. A cig lighter type plug you can use for a variety of devices to help you out . Several storage compartments/ glove compartment with lots of room. Side mirrors that help out backing up with trailers. The digital dashboard tells you just about everything you need to know with its nice bright display. The 3500 lb. winch with remote control device and long chord is also a great set up. This thing does a great job with speed ( high gear ), Low for rough road/ up hill climbs. Does a great job navigating all sorts of terrain even without locking in 4WD, which is a breeze to use. Handles heavy bed loads and towing loads, even up hill. The price for all the features and fun things is so much better than other brands.. If your going to buy a UTV , do yourself a favor and look into this unit before making up your mind on a vehicle. All the goodies that come standard on this Massimo will cost you hundreds more on other brands. I don't like the fact that there is no rubber flaps or inside mud guards to protect the under hood compartment and lights. This could be a DIY projects easy enough. Another thing is Massimo needs to review their on line pdf owners manual.. there are several errors and omissions that should be reviewed . One thing off hand is that its says the digital display feature of Trip / Odometer button has TWO trip readings you can use. not correct. Mine has TRIP/ Odometer/ Hour meter ( which is much better anyways ) Thanks for making a great machine that's affordable and fun !

It's a Keeper
Purchased early 2012 from Midland, GA TSC. Had initial brake caliper problem solved quickly by Massimo. Great for farm work use. Price & quality of construction were big factors in purchase. Two suggestions; easier access to oil dip stick & less difficult bed release handle tension; otherwise a perfect machine.

Awesome machine
I have had my 500 for about 3 months and i love it. It is a great all around vehicle, from a playtoy to work horse to just a plain machine to ride around in. It exceeds my expectations and i give it a five star rating. I had one minor problem with the front end being out of alignment and they took care of me right away. Purchased it at TSC in Greenville, Michigan. Both Dealer and factory support team have been awesome.

Massimo MSU 500
Purchased my MSU 500 from Mission, Tx TSC, use it for work here on our citrus farm. My 500 has become the family's and especially mine, it has become our favorite work vehicle. The family named it Black Max. Great handling and superior performance compared to my green & yellow UTV.. Several friends now are begging to borrow my MSU 500

Massimo MSU-500
Recently purchased MSU-500 from TSC, the price was perfect and the quality of the product is exemplary. I visited and checked out all other major ATV's & dealers in my area of south Texas. MSU-500 had most bang for the buck, overall quality, & price made good business sense, Massimo products rate 5 stars in my book. Dealer & factory support team have been the very best.

Love my snow pusher
I have had my massimo for a little over 5 months, I have over 600 miles on it, and I pushed snow all winter with it. I was very impressed with the amount of snow it will push, with the 6' plow I have on it, Never had any issues with it in anyway. I love it and I would not hesitate to get another one.

Love It.
I purchased this machine about 3 months ago from the local TSC Store. I have already put over 40 hours on the machine and it has been flawless. I adjusted the side doors so they would open and close better and that is it!. Between 4 to 5 mile runs to the store and use on the property for hauling and dragging and for fun by pulling the grandkids around on sleds this is one of the best toys I have ever purchased!!!!! Thanks for a great machine MASSIMO!!!

Not real happy with Tractor Supply, They couldn't find the owners manual and didn't check battery levels, but the team at Massimo stepped in and helped support my 1 problem with the charging system a loose connection. after that its been great!

Fantastic Machine
I've only had the 500 for a week and I just can't say enough good things about it. I only had one small issue the horn would'nt work and Massimo called me and let me know they would be sending me a replacement part. ASAP. Can't beat customer service like that. Thanks Massimo, great machine at a phenomenal price.

Excellent Machine
I just purchased the MSU-500 from tractor supply. I made this purchase after extensive research on all the UTV brands and their costs. When you compare the workmanship, features and most importantly the $, thie choice was a no-brainer. Massimo was the winner hands down and it has performed flawlessly so far.

Many Miles
Just purchased 9/13/12, I had to change the oil within 2 week of purchase. But I did put on 200 miles. To date I have 325 Miles on it. Sweet machine, we run it in our woods but mostly back roads it sure fits the bill. Fluids have been fine I have never run it hard due to break in. I want this unit for many years. I did buy an enclosure for it because we live, the thumb of MI and winter is brutal. This machine will be pulling a trailer for wood use it for hunting ext: I love it so far. I will keep everyone informed.
